I have finished another “Francie” piece, finally. This one features Francie showing off a new dress with dark green and white stockings. The first time wearing a new dress for a little girl is always something special, and that thought is celebrated in this new piece. I am offering the 25% off sale on this one as well as all the other Francie pieces in my shop.
I have terribly neglected this blog and my Etsy shop, something I told myself I wouldn’t do. My excuses… I am in the middle of illustrating a children’s book (and having a blast doing it!) and my sister and I have taken on 6 more horses at the barn that we manage. This fall has been incredibly productive and I am so grateful for that! The work has been challenging but so enjoyable. Hopefully, I’ll be able to continue to expand my Etsy shop soon as well. I have so many plans for it!
Amazingly, tomorrow is the first of November. I am happy to announce that starting tomorrow and ongoing through the month of December (Nov. 1 – Dec. 31), I will be running my first sale on Etsy. Most pieces will be 25% off. Perhaps a piece in my shop will make a one-of-a-kind gift to a really special person in your life. It is my hope that my work will bring beauty and grace to your walls.
Thank you for reading and taking the time to look at my work. I am so blessed to be able to share with you.
I’d like to add to my last post about how special my great-grandmother’s Ardco figurine is to me by telling you about the Custom Watercolor Paintings I am now offering in my Etsy Shop. The painting above, is of an adorable figurine from the 1940’s called “The Dandelion” and it makes a pair with the figurine shown next to it called “My Favourite”. The Royal Worcester company in England produced many porcelain figurines that were modeled by F.G. Doughty like the ones above. Vintage and antique figurines have a way of garnering our sentimentality and love, especially when they have been passed down to us by beloved relations and friends. Perhaps you have a figurine or you remember a figurine that is special to you or to a loved one. I’d love to hear about your vintage collectibles and the story behind them.
“I know you like drawing portraits, and I thought you’d like this. It’s such a pretty pose.” my late great-grandmother said as she gave me this Ardco porcelain figurine/vase. That was when I was about 14 years old. I’ve always loved her gift to me. It makes me think of days long ago when bouffant hairdos, brooches, and fake eyelashes were all the rage.
Inspired by the days that my great-grandmother knew well and I could only dream about, I created a painting to share this fabulous beauty with you. “Vivian” is now for sale in my Etsy Shop. I’ve often seen other Ardco vases at antique shops, but I’ve never found one quite like my great-grandmothers. I hope you enjoy this piece!
Red Roses have always been my favorite flower. An age-old symbol of love, what is more romantic or beautiful then fresh picked roses?
A bouquet of delicate Peter Pan roses from my boyfriend was the inspiration for this watercolor painting.
You can find it now on my Etsy Shop!
